About this candidate
From mcfarland4district24.org:Born in Laurel, raised in Alexandria, matriculated in Missouri, refined in the U.S. Army, improved by New York Law School, I returned to serve & invigorate my community. Home to our family for nearly 40 years, my respect for our community stems from witnessing all its done in return for our efforts. Particularly, through my grandmother, I saw the reverberating impact a caring member of our community can have in the classroom. In the heart of our 24th District, presently I seek to honor her legacy as I work with AP World History students at Charles H. Flowers High School, dedicated to delivering excellence. At heart, I am a problem solver. Nothing holds me down, or stops me from achieving what is possible. Where paralysis took my ability to walk, will and determination lead me to stand where I do today. Where a calamity of family struggles, inflicted by addiction, parental loss, or the pandemic push me down, my faith and belief in our community lifts me up. Where time-and-time again, there seems no way: I pride myself on finding a way.
