About this candidate

From electdiante.com:As a veteran of the United States Navy, I know what it means to serve. My service to our nation taught me the importance of showing up for our people and instilled in me the values of honor, courage, and commitment. Before joining the Navy, I was raised by my grandmother to understand the values of community, compassion, and caring. These are the principles by which I will serve District 40 in the General Assembly. While leading Pigtown’s neighborhood association, I learned what it takes to advocate for the needs of the people who need it most. I built coalitions and helped to secure more than $3 million in investments in the neighborhood, including the renovation and re-opening of the Carroll Park Community Center that had been abandoned for over 20 years. I know what it looks like to create safety and a sense of fellowship within a community. I know what servant leadership is.

Crystal Jackson Parker

About this candidate

From crystaljacksonparker.com:home. My name is Crystal Jackson Parker, and I’m proud to call West Baltimore my home. I’m running to be your District 40 Delegate in Annapolis because I believe in the power of our people, the strength of our neighborhoods, and the promise of a better future for all our families. I was raised by my grandmother. She was a single parent and a hairdresser who worked tirelessly to provide for me. We didn’t have much, but we had love, faith, and determination. As a little girl, I was happy and active - participating in sports, music, and community activities. But at just nine years old, my life changed forever when I was diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), a chronic autoimmune disease that attacked my kidneys.
