Howell is happily married to his wife, Jenna.  Derek and Jenna are blessed to have four children, Hudson, James, Josiah, and Ridgely.    Derek is an attorney and retired decorated police officer.  He served over 20 years with the Maryland State Police and Montgomery County Police departments, including serving in Cecil County when he was a state trooper.   Derek is a Constitutional Conservative Republican. He has traveled around the country teaching the U.S. Constitution, Declaration of Independence, and American history.  Derek also taught at a Maryland university, college, and a seminary.  As a lawyer, he has litigated cases throughout Maryland, fighting for people’s constitutional rights and liberties.  He is an avid hunter and fisherman, and member of the NRA.  Derek and his family are active in their church, and he strongly believes in Faith, Family, & Freedom.  ​
